Winter is back and with a vengeance. Don’t neglect your pipes – temperatures are well below freezing which can cause a disaster if your water lines are not properly insulated. Listed below are some tips to prevent your pipes from freezing during this winter season.

  • Insulate pipes under your home and in the attic or wherever your water lines may be housed. Especially any outside exposed water lines.
  • Install heat tape or cables to your lines
  • Unhook any outside water lines after use during the winter months
  • Allow your water to drip from your faucets during extreme cold temperatures
  • Open cabinet doors to help circulate heat inside your home

Frozen water lines can burst and cause major damage – temperatures can change daily during the winter season in the deep south, always keep your guard up.
