Corporate Paying a Visit?

3/20/2021 (Permalink)

Recently SERVPRO of Greenwood received a call from a big commercial warehouse here in Greenwood asking if we could go in and do some general cleaning for them because corporate was going to be there that week. We are always here to help to so we gladly took the job. What they wanted us to do was simple. They wanted most walls cleaned throughout the warehouse, the safety rails, and finally the floors/windows cleaned in the office area. Our wonderful cleaning crew took the necessary solutions and supplies to get the job done before corporate paid them a visit. We began but dusting off the wall railings. Then we used our specialized solutions to wipe the walls and rails down until they were nice and clean. We started at the very top of the wall by climbing up the tallest ladder we had in our shop and worked our way down. Getting all the spots off the walls was not easy, our cleaning were putting in some elbow grease to ensure clean and shiny walls. After all the walls around the warehouse was cleaned, we moved to clean the tile floors and windows around the office space. The cleaning crew got the job done just in time for their corporate office to come for a yearly visit.

3/18/2021 (Permalink)

First impressions are crucial, I think we can all agree, especially when it comes to your business! If a new customer walks in your store or office, what are the first things they notice? Cleanliness? Smell? Visible dirt? All these things might deter a customer from returning or even making an initial purchase, not something you’d want as a business owner.

You can certainly dust, mop or light a candle on your own – but deep cleaning requires a little more effort & know-how. Did you know that SERVPRO of Greenwood offers deep cleaning services? We can clean and sanitize your floors (carpet & hard flooring), clean your duct work – which can help to eliminate odors and provide a cleaner breathing environment.

Commercial Coverage

3/11/2021 (Permalink)

Most Commercial Insurance policies provide coverage for not only the building, but the building’s contents. In the event of fire, water, or mold damage, you certainly want to retain the monetary value in both the structure and the valuables you have inside!

Take time to review your policies, their limits, and any stipulations they may include. It’s also important to keep an accurate inventory on hand of anything of value within your business. The more information you can provide, the higher the chances of you recouping potential money lost.

As always, at SERVPRO we do our best to adhere to our “Repair vs. Replace” mentality. If we can fix, restore, or simply clean your items, rather than attempt to get them replaced, we will. This saves you money, keeping your insurance claim low, valuable time.

Business Interruption how to Stay Open

3/16/2020 (Permalink)

Operating a business is no simple task. It is a complex, time-consuming venture that requires being ready for anything. When a disaster strikes that requires a rebuild, businesses can gain peace of mind by having business interruption insurance. Instead of worrying about paying the bills and closing the doors to income, this add-on insurance can help keep a business afloat and make it easier to get back to normal.

Typical Coverage

When a rebuild is necessary due to flooding or water damage, fire or other natural disasters, time becomes a challenge. A closed business for an extended period of time could result in the business failing. While all policies are a little different depending on the insurer, interruption insurance often covers the following:

  • Lost Profits – Get reimbursed for lost earnings based on previous performance.
  • Static Costs – Day-to-day operating expenses.
  • Temporary Relocation – If it is possible to operate from another location, many policies will cover this cost.
  • Employee Wages – Keeping employees is key to succeeding. This allows for payroll to be met.
  • Taxes – No matter what happens, taxes are due. This coverage can eliminate the headache of additional penalties.
  • Loan payments – Even if there is no income, it’s important to pay loans on time. Business interruption helps you stay on track with debtors.

Additional Peace of Mind

A disaster quickly becomes an eye-opening experience. If equipment or machinery needs to be replaced, that often means training people to use it. Depending on your policy, this add-on may help cover some of those costs. It also works with your primary commercial property insurance. While the main policy will cover the physical damage, the interruption portion will ease the burden of the immediate financial damage.
While no business expects to have to rebuild, anything can happen. Adding a little extra insurance can go a long way in keeping your business thriving.

Do you need to clean your ducts at your commercial business?

3/11/2020 (Permalink)

Duct cleaning generally refers to the cleaning of various heating and cooling system components of forced air systems, including the supply and return air ducts and registers, grilles and diffusers, heat exchangers heating and cooling coils, condensate drain pans (drip pans), fan motor and fan housing, and the air handling unit housing.

If not properly installed, maintained and operated, these components may become contaminated with particles of dust, pollen or other debris. If moisture is present, the potential for microbiological growth (e.g., mold) is increased and spores from such growth may be released into the air of your commercial business. Some of these contaminants may cause allergic reactions or other symptoms in people if they are exposed to them.

Ventilation systems are often the biggest culprit in poor indoor air quality. Make it a priority to inspect the ductwork of your business.

If your HVAC has been operating for some time without attention, it could be circulating one or more of the following:

  • Dust
  • Pollen
  • Odors
  • Dirt and debris
  • Other contaminants

The benefits of servicing your HVAC unit include:

  • It helps to restore peak energy efficiency.
  • May help to eliminate offensive odors.
  • It helps reduce the potential for mold growth.

Is your Commercial Property affected by Mold

3/10/2020 (Permalink)

Stachybotrys chartarum is the type of mold often called “black mold” or “toxic mold”. Sensational news reports warn about the dangers of black mold and these stories can be alarming and confusing. Any mold in your property should be treated with caution – stay out of affected areas and don’t touch or disturb the mold.

How Do I Tell If It’s Black Mold?

Since many types of mold can produce allergens and irritants, you should contact a qualified mold remediation company regardless of the color or type of mold. In many instances, multiple types of mold can exist in the same property or structure. If you suspect that you have a mold problem, contact your local SERVPRO Franchise Professional immediately.

If You See Signs of Mold, Call Us Today   864-229-6610

When water intrudes into your property, mold growth can start in as little as 48 hours. Consider the following mold facts:

  •  Mold is present almost everywhere, indoors and outdoors.
  •  Mold spores are microscopic, float along in the air, and may enter your home through windows, doors, or AC/heating systems or even hitch a ride indoors on your clothing or a pet.
  •  Mold spores thrive on moisture. Mold spores can quickly grow into colonies when exposed to water. These colonies may produce toxins harmful to humans and pets.
  •  Before mold remediation can begin, any sources of water or moisture must be addressed. Otherwise the mold may return.
  •  Mold often produces a strong, musty odor, and that odor can lead you to possible mold problem areas.
  •  Even higher-than-normal indoor humidity can support mold growth. Keep indoor humidity below 45 percent.
